In preparing for the R&C part of the course I have been collecting articles around Blended Learning. In the collection of the these articles I have been refining my exact question to base the literature review on.
Does blended learning suit only motivated and independent learners or does it build these skills into our learners?
I am coming across a number of barriers in the literature review mainly from unfamiliarity of the task and the process of evaluating research articles.

Haha…excellent idea @teachertoolkit, 30 words of advice for newbies.
We have a few newbies at school & my advice would definately boil down to teaching is not rocket science (unless you are teaching rocket science), but there is lots to do in the job, the only way of learning it all well is to see how others do it and be prepared to learn from your audience, don’t hold back go for it and have a laugh.

‘When the seniors leave’ is the phrase on everyone’s lips. It welcomes a time of increased time allowance to do those jobs that you have been putting off all year, an idea of a lesser teaching load that allows you to focus on the junior classes and preparing for the next year.
However,it doesn’t seem to work like that in reality.
It is nice to be stimulated at work with new challenges.
Sometimes they seem very daunting from the outset. A new position of responsibility has arisen and yesterday was the first official duty in that role. This brought exposure to a number of different areas of the school which have previously played a very small role in my day to day routines and work as a classroom teacher.
It seems like quite a minefield and this is largely to the unknown factor of the job. I am looking forward to being involved in the other areas and up skilling to cope with the new pressures and workloads.
Picking up new subjects to teach or returning to subjects that you haven’t taught for a while is equally as challenging. Especially when theory and pedagogy has moved on (am I really that old!). Languages have always been an interest, and the opportunity to return to Spanish teaching is one I never thought I would get in NZ.
This gives me a goal to brush up on certain areas of the language – writing especially – to the level for Juniors.

We are currently starting to look at the inquiry process. The process is a school wide push to enhance teaching and learning through a number of personalised inquiries. The inquiry I would like to follow is to use VLE in raising attainment and engagement in the subject. The VLE we use is Moodle. I would also, as part of the inquiry, be able to combined other social network and communicative techniques such as Twitter feeds and this blog.
Examples of this type of interaction at different levels are quite hard to find as is data showing this interaction.
From a scanning point of view this study builds upon strengths and experience in using this medium. Also there are examples of practitioners using these tools in isolation.Inquiry reading
